Forbes Next 1000 List
Forbes Next 1000 List features DeLorean Johnson, Founder of Au Courant Interiors
A creative entrepreneur combines creative flair with entrepreneurial ability to build a business empire.
Recognizing the important and valuable work that we are doing here at Au Courant Interiors, Forbes has announced that our founder DeLorean Johnson will appear on the upcoming Next 1000 List. This is a tremendous moment for our company, signifying all of the hope and ambition that we feel among ourselves day in and day out. To hear from such a prestigious organization that they too acknowledge what we have done and what we plan to do, there is no doubt that we are going to continue to grow and evolve as an organization.
For those who may be unfamiliar with our history, Au Courant Interiors originated in a South Carolina basement. It was there that DeLorean got to work, using little more than her talent and her drive to establish a thriving interior design business. Constantly, her work attracted the right type of publicity for our company. Experts could see that she was delivering bold and distinctive projects. That is eight years in the past, although at times, it seems even longer than that. We have come so far – and yet remain as committed to our work as ever. Refusing to rest on our laurels, however validating, we still think of ourselves as a business for which the best days are in the future.
From our chandeliers, which have featured in Warner Bros. Studios' Supergirl, to our environmentalist leadership, which has emphasized upcycling and reclamation, all of our efforts have led to this. When we appear on the Forbes Next 1000 List, it will become the latest big break among many. It will not, at the same time, define us. To define ourselves as an organization, we remain steadfast about our company culture and about our belief that outstanding, professional work can also represent the heights of creativity and artistry.
Every step of the way, the Au Courant story has stood apart. DeLorean needed to sell her car and empty her 401(k) to launch this company, and still to make up the rest of the capital requirements, she had to seek out an SBA loan and family support. Proudly, we maintain our headquarters in Greenville, South Carolina, despite our current identity as a global brand. That is who we are, and it is one more way we will not compromise on our principles.
For seeing this, we would like to thank the editors at Forbes, as well as extend our deepest gratitude for including us in the Next 1000 List. We will do right by that title.
